This Co-op knows cacao can empower small farmers and catalyze economic development. Though each has less than 2 acres of cacao, producers receive a premium for beans. The Co-Op processes the beans to reduce farmer workload, and growers are paid immediately. Surrounded by the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, the region is known for abundant wildlife, and the rich “terroir” means Tanzanian cacao has the potential to be among the best in the world.
